Darley Dene Nursery is a thriving part of the mainstream school. Along with our Reception Class, it forms our Early Years department.
We have a range of ways to stimulate learning through the outdoors. Our school site has a dedicated Forest School area and Miss Stoate is a qualified Forest School teacher. We also have a well equipped outdoor space, just for our Early Years children which includes: climbing apparatus, a mud kitchen, bikes, trikes, a 'hill' and sandpit. We also have a wide range of construction materials for children to explore. We seek to develop children's Mathematics and Language skills through this space as much as possible.
Our Nursery children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. You can read about this by following this link:
This child-led approach allows for 'teaching alongside' as well as direct adult-led activities, such as learning to count, sounds and letters. Children follow the phonics programme, 'Letters and Sounds' (Phase 1).
Our Nursery offers 15 and 30 hour places. There are various ways in which 15 hour places can be taken and these are detailed in our admissions arrangements and application form. We also have a detailed Nursery Admissions Policy. Both documents are shown below.
